This month, we celebrate 7 years of 3DPPVD and as we do every year, it’s a party! No worries about making it on time for a presentation; no concerns about not understanding the topic; tomorrow night (7-10-19) is just about fun and hanging out with the community. Doors open at 7 at Ocean State Maker Mill. We will have some snacks but feel free to bring some along too. We would also love to hear any ideas you might have for the next year of meetings so bring your list!

So you got a new 3D printer for the holidays, you unpacked it, tried setting it up, downloaded something from Thingiverse, but you just aren’t getting the results you hoped for. We are here to help! Stop by Ocean State Maker Mill this Wednesday, January 10th, to get some help from our team of experienced experts with your new printer.

Didn’t get a new printer but want some help tuning up old faithful? You are invited too – in fact, EVERYONE IS INVITED!!!! If no one comes with printers, we will hang out and talk about other 3D printing related subjects because we love this stuff (and we have a ton of printers we can show you).

The meeting starts at 7pm and will run till at least 10. You don’t have to come for the entire time if you are not a night owl, and don’t worry if you are running late, this one will be super informal. Ocean State Maker Mill is located at 80 Fountain Street in Pawtucket but our entrance is around back in the back of the lot located at the corner of Middle and Blackstone, look for the door under the fire escape. We hope to see you there and can’t wait to see what Santa Claus brought you.

From mermaid scales to unicorn horns to tiger claws, everyone knows 3d printing can add awesome effects to your wearable creations.  But why spend hours gluing individual pieces when you can fuse your prints right to mesh during the printing process itself?  This process creates a “fabric” of 3D prints, boasting a flexibility and fluidity you just can’t achieve through the gluing process.

This process is perfect for cosplay, Halloween, Comic Con and any day you feel like showing up at the office ready to do battle with your dragon scale gauntlets on.

Prints really stuck to your 3D printer bed? Are you finding yourself ruining or breaking prints in the removal process, or worse yet, gouging into and tearing up your build plate? Maybe you’re a beginner looking for some tips to remove prints successfully? If so, our next meetup is for you!

Join us as OSMM member Kurt Hamel takes us through five design features to add to your prints to help with removal once your print is complete.

Brian has recently received a desktop milling machine (a cousin to our beloved 3D printers) and has been working on creating his own machinable wax to use with it and he is going to share this adventure with us.

This month’s meeting, we’ll feature guest speaker Philip J. Angileri, owner of NarrowBase LLC.  Phil will be expounding on the pros and cons of owning and running a 3D printed business.  Starting NarrowBase from the ground up, Phil is well versed on the topic.

In July of 2012, 3DPPVD met for the first time. With the goal of helping Rhode Islanders learn more and do more with 3D printing, we continued to meet monthly. Now, four years later, we have reached hundreds of 3D printing enthusiasts across New England and it’s time to celebrate!

There are many options out there for those interested in 3D modeling, but sadly, many of the pro-level tools are outside the budget of many individuals. Now a new contender, OnShape,  has entered the ring and is making waves with its amazing list of features and even better price for makers – free!

This Wednesday, November 11th 2015, OnShape’s founder Jon Hirschtick will be joining us to demo some of OnShape’s features and answer your questions about his newest entry into the 3D Modeling world (Jon was also the founder of SolidWorks). We will be kicking off the event at 7pm at Ocean State Maker Mill, 80 Fountain Street, Unit 318, Pawtucket, RI.

Well after two years we finally had to cancel a meeting. I apologize for needing to cancel but sometime life gets in the way. We will strive to be back in October, back on track and doing awesome things. If you can’t wait until october to hang out with us, join us at World Maker Faire in Queens, Ny (Sept 20-21).
